Hi, Thank you for liking my blog: Genuinely Listening. I love how your blog on Christmas is getting everyone excited about Christmas and its traditions!

These recipes look really good. The candy cane recipe reminded me of the Legend of the Candy Cane. It is the story of the tradition behind eating Candy Canes, which I thought you would enjoy hearing about.

Here is it is: (The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg)

What do you see when you look at the Candy Cane?

“J” is for Jesus, who was born on Christmas Day.
Turn it around and it becomes a staff. Shepards were the first to hear about Jesus’s birth and Jesus is the Good Shepard.
There are two red stripes. The thin one is when Jesus was whipped and the thick one is when he was stabbed while on the cross. The stripes are to remind us of his suffering.
The white is for Jesus, who washed “away our sins, making us white and pure as snow” (Walburg).

I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas!
